Jesus said the first and greatest commandment in all of God’s revelation is to, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind” (Luke 10:27).

In other words, God wants us to love Him with every part of who we are: our thoughts, our passion, and our actions.

An easy memory tool that captures the mental, emotional, and physical parts of who we are is: Head, Heart, and Hands.

In this 20-minute podcast, Tyler Ellis gleans principles from scripture and from Dennis Hollinger’s book, Head, Heart and Hands, to help us consider how to express our love for God in a whole and balanced way.

With helpful stories and illustrations, listeners are challenged by the fact that we often gravitate to one expression of love and minimize the others.

Even churches and campus ministries can become characterized by an emphasis on Christian thought or passion or action, at the expense of the others. When this happens, our faith and love become fragmented and inadequate; in conflict with the way God created us.

The message concludes with practical and specific ways we can grow to love the Lord with our
head, heart, and hands.

Finally, Tyler shares how churches and campus ministries can partner with the non-denominational nonprofit, Let’s Start Talking, to send members on summer mission trips to help people improve their English through life-changing conversations around the Bible.
